I have ventured into the depths of deep house music and found that it is a genre i really like. From the grooviness of the drums to the dirty harmonics of the punchy synths that are common in this genre. I wanted to try myself on this.

 

The first thing i thought was really contributing to the esque of deep house was the techy style drums. They also contribute and carries alot of the grooviness that I wanted. I made various loops to begin with. using hats and clicks and rims and claps, basically every drum i had on my computer that fit the genre, was tested. Eventually i ended up downloading a pack with drums that fit just fine.

 

A big part of this was the kick, which i synthesized in massive. I will not go too deep into kick synthesis but I will say this; you don't need a software that is made specifically for kick synthesis and no, those softwares are not allways the best option either. To make a kick all you basically need is an oscilator to which you can assign a pitch envelope, eq and compressor. The reason i used massive was because i could mess around with the different wavetables.
